Botox injection is avoided in patients allergic to eggs or its products and those having history of previous allergic reaction to Botox.
Botox injection is a Lunch Time procedure where patient is sent back just few minutes after the procedure.
A numbing cream is applied to the face before the injection. Many a times patients do not require even the numbing cream.
Patient may develop little swelling or bruising at the injection site. This resolves soon. Icing the area shall resolve it faster.
Minor allergic reactions which manifest as redness and itching are common and settle with medication

Ptosis ( Fall of upper eyelid) and Diplopia (Double Vision) are the extreme and rarest complications that may occur when Botox is injected around eyes and little amount diffuses around eyes. The condition can be managed with medications and is temporary just like the benmeficial effects of BOTOX.

Benign essential blepharospasm (BEB) is a progressive neurological disorder characterized by involuntary muscle contractions and spasms of the eyelid muscles. It is a form of dystonia, a movement disorder in which muscle contractions cause sustained eyelid closure, twitching or repetitive movements. The condition is Idiopathic and patient is often bothered by the spasm and twitching. Botox Injection can help such patients by paralyzing the muscles around eyes responsible for the twitching.
