Eyelids that have loosened and sagged down give you older look. Blepharoplasty provides your eyes a Youthful appearance. Blepharoplasty is usually performed through external incisions made along the natural skin lines of the eyelids, such as the creases of the upper lids. Incisions may be made from the inside surface of the lower eyelid (Transconjunctival ), which allows removal of lower eyelid fat without an externally-visible scar. Asian eyelids are anatomically different from occidental eyelids in many ways. While Asian eyes are uniquely beautiful, some patients of Asian descent may be bothered by their upper eyelids.
Patients are looking to create new upper eyelids folds (double eyelid surgery) or improve symmetry of the folds to make the eyes look bigger and brighter. Sometimes the droopy upper lids can even block patients’ peripheral vision daily activities.
Your eyes reveal how you feel more than any other facial feature. If you believe that your eyes make you look tired, sad or older than you feel, cosmetic eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) may be the right choice for you. Eyelid surgery can remove the excess fat and drooping skin of the upper eyelids, minimize bags under the eyes and tighten the lower eyelid skin. The result is a more alert, relaxed and confident appearance.
Good candidate for eyelid surgery if you have any of the following conditions:
Upper eyelids :
Lower eyelids :
Blepharoplasty is performed, under local or intra-venous sedation or general anaesthesia. Our doctor will recommend the best choice for you.
Upper eyelids – Typically, the incision lies within the natural crease and extends slightly into the lines. Through this incision, excess skin, muscle and fatty tissue are removed. This incision when healed is barely visible. A form of brow lift can be performed through this incision at the same time. Please discuss this option with your cosmetic surgeon.
Lower eyelids – Usually the incision is concealed below the eyelashes or in some selected cases the incision may be taken on the inner side of the eyelid (on the conjunctiva). Through the sub-ciliary incision, excess skin, muscles and fatty tissue removed. In most cases the muscles and other eyelid structures may be tightened. Through the trans-conjunctival incision only the excess fat tissue can be removed.
The incisions are closed with very fine sutures and adhesive tapes may be applied to support the skin and minimize swelling.
Blepharoplasty incorporates a medical procedure to fix saggy eyelids that may include eliminating overabundance skin, muscle and fat. When you age, your eyelids stretch, and the muscles supporting them loosens up. Thus, overabundance fat accumulate above and underneath your eyelids, causing listing eyebrows, sagging tops and packs under your eyes. Blepharoplasty can lessen or take out these vision issues and cause your eyes to seem more youthful and more ready.
