General Physician Doctors

A General Physicians has an MBBS and a Post Graduation (MD) degree in general medicine or specialised in a particular field of medicine such as cardiology, urology, endocrinology etc.

A general physician has a long list of responsibilities because he/she is the first point of contact for most patients. As such, these are a few things that physicians do:

Diagnose conditions and injuries

Conduct routine check-ups

Recommend medical tests for further diagnosis

Cirrhosis Doctors

Fibrosis describes encapsulation or replacement of injured tissue by a collagenous scar. Liver fibrosis results from the perpetuation of the normal wound healing response resulting in an abnormal continuation of fibrogenesis (connective tissue production and deposition).Cirrhosis is defined as the histological development of regenerative nodules surrounded by fibrous bands in response to chronic liver injury, that leads to portal hypertension and end stage liver disease. Recent advances in the understanding of the natural history and pathophysiology of cirrhosis, and in treatment of its complications, resulting in improved management, quality of life and life expectancy of cirrhotic patients. At present, liver transplantation remains the only curative option for a selected group of patients, but pharmacological therapies that can halt progression to decompensated cirrhosis or even reverse cirrhosis are currently being developed. This concise overview focuses on diagnosis, complications and management of cirrhosis, and novel clinical and scientific developments.Fibrosis describes encapsulation or replacement of injured tissue by a collagenous scar. Diarrhea

Diarrhea

Symptoms of diarrhea include frequent, loose, watery stools (feces) which are usually accompanied by an urgent need to go to the toilet. Abdominal pain or cramping may also occur, and sometimes nausea or vomiting. Viruses are a common cause of diarrhea, particularly noroviruses which are a common cause of diarrhea and vomiting outbreaks on cruise ships. Other common causes include bacteria, such as salmonella, campylobacter, or Escherichia coli; giardia; certain medical conditions (such as Celiac disease or Crohn’s disease); food intolerance or medicines.Treatment also varies, though rehydration therapy is an important aspect of the management of any patient with diarrhea. This activity reviews the evaluation and treatment of diarrhea and stresses the role of the interprofessional team in caring for patients with this condition.

Gastrointestinal Doctor

Gastrointestinal tract (GI tract, digestive tract, alimentary canal) is the tract or passageway of the digestive system that leads from the mouth to the anus. The GI tract contains all the major organs of the digestive system, in humans and other animals, including the esophagus, stomach, and intestines

The organs that food and liquids travel through when they are swallowed, digested, absorbed, and leave the body as feces. These organs include the mouth, pharynx (throat), esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus. The gastrointestinal tract is part of the digestive system. Also called alimentary tract and digestive tract.

Nerves and hormones work together to regulate the functioning of the digestive system and bacteria that reside within our GI tract (called our gut flora or microbiome) play a role in digestion, immunity, and our overall health

Fatty Liver

Eating excess calories causes fat to build up in the liver. When the liver does not process and break down fats as it normally should, too much fat will accumulate. People tend to develop fatty liver if they have certain other conditions, such as obesity, diabetes or high triglycerides.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is currently the most common chronic liver disease in developed countries because of the obesity epidemic. The disease increases liver-related morbidity and mortality, and often increases the risk for other comorbidities, such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Insulin resistance related to metabolic syndrome is the main pathogenic trigger that, in association with adverse genetic, humoral, hormonal and lifestyle factors, precipitates development of NAFLD. Intense lifestyle changes aiming at weight loss are the main therapeutic intervention to manage cases.

Gastroenterology Hospitals

A gastroenterologist is a medical professional who specializes in conditions that affect the organs and structures of the digestive system.

Gastroenterology is the study of the normal function and diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts and liver. It involves a detailed understanding of the normal action (physiology) of the gastrointestinal organs including the movement of material through the stomach and intestine (motility), the digestion and absorption of nutrients into the body, removal of waste from the system, and the function of the liver as a digestive organ. It includes common and important conditions such as colon polyps and cancer, hepatitis, gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn), peptic ulcer disease, colitis, gallbladder and biliary tract disease, nutritional problems, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and pancreatitis. In essence, all normal activity and disease of the digestive organs is part of the study of Gastroenterology.

Acidity Treatment

Acid reflux is also known as heartburn, acid indigestion, or pyrosis. It happens when some of the acidic stomach contents go back up into the esophagus.

Acid reflux creates a burning pain in the lower chest area, often after eating. Lifestyle risk factors include obesity and smoking.

Antacids, which help neutralize stomach acid. Antacids may provide quick relief.

H2 blockers, which can reduce stomach acid. H2 blockers don't act as quickly as antacids, but they may provide longer relief.

Proton pump inhibitors, which also can reduce stomach acid.
